Bond completed a PhD at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2018, where his doctoral research considered the role of dissociation in the manipulation of subjectivity within the visual arts through the invention and play of alter identities.
Since 2000, Bond has held 26 solo exhibitions, with his work included in over 130 curated shows, including the 2016 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art and The National: New Australian Art Biennial in 2017.
He is the founder of the Non-Association, an organisation that provides respite from political, social, and cultural persuasion.
He lives and works in Melbourne.

“I’ve spent most of my career as an artist trying to figure out how to engender a particular quality within a work, and comparatively very little thinking about its value or functional capacity.
In my view, the inherent qualities of the work - the difficult to define things that make the work what it is, are separate to what the work needs to do, if it must do anything at all. Most of the time I’d rather it didn’t.
Recently I’ve come to the realisation that my preference for quality over value drives much of my decision making. It goes someway to explaining why I set up complex scenarios to achieve something - a quality - that I’ve been unable to by any other method.
It’s why I’ve inserted fictive versions of myself into my own work, invented authors and artists to make work for me, made strictly formal works, made work under assumed names, used art history as a platform for reductive abstraction, and collaborated with artists that never existed.
In almost all of these strategies, I’ve benefitted from working within a program that limits my movement. I find that this helps narrow my focus, allowing me to trap myself within a work, where I belong.”
